8-Week Study Plan (HTML & CSS)

Welcome to the HTML & CSS 8-Week Study Plan. This curriculum is designed to take you from complete beginner to building and publishing production-ready, responsive websites.

  • Daily time: 1 to 2 hours per day.
  • Weekly schedule: 5 days a week (~8 to 10 hours per week).
  • Format: 40 daily modules across 8 structured weeks.

Before starting Week 1, ensure you have the following installed and set up:

  1. Code Editor: Visual Studio Code (VS Code)
  2. Editor Extension: Live Server for real-time browser preview
  3. Web Browser: Google Chrome (with Chrome DevTools)
  4. Version Control & Hosting: A free GitHub account

Supplement your daily practice with these high-quality resources:

30% Theory, 70% Hands-on Practice. Never copy and paste code: write every tag, selector, and property by hand. Muscle memory and syntax recall are built through typing.

Week Focus Objective
Week 1 HTML Fundamentals Understand how the web works and write basic HTML pages
Week 2 Semantic HTML, Tables & Forms Structure meaningful content and collect user input
Week 3 CSS Fundamentals Style your pages and understand the cascade and specificity
Week 4 Box Model & Positioning Master element sizing, borders, shadows, and positioning
Week 5 Flexbox Create one-dimensional flexible layouts and alignment patterns
Week 6 CSS Grid Build two-dimensional grid layouts and responsive galleries
Week 7 Responsive Design & Modern CSS Mobile-first layouts, media queries, CSS variables & animations
Week 8 Final Project & Publishing Build a portfolio or landing page and deploy it live to the web

  • Study every day, even if only for 30 minutes. Consistency always beats sporadic marathons.
  • Replicate real-world websites: Pick a section or navigation bar you like and rebuild it from scratch.
  • Use DevTools constantly: Inspect how your favorite sites are structured and styled.
  • Maintain a GitHub repository for each mini-project: it will serve as your public developer portfolio.
  • When something breaks, spend at least 15 minutes troubleshooting and experimenting before searching for the answer.

Once you complete this plan, your next natural step is learning JavaScript (8 to 10 weeks). In parallel, you can explore Git & GitHub collaboration workflows, Sass, or modern utility frameworks like Tailwind CSS.
